How to debug suspend/modern standby problem with Gnome 41

Somehow the Gnome 41 update broke functional suspend functionality on my laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 5 14ARE05). This model had previously problems with modern standby before kernel 5.14. Now with kernel 5.15, it has worked just fine. After Gnome 41 there have been hiccups. Sometimes it would not suspend and sometimes it would not resume from sleep. There are no problems with Pop OS 21.10 and Fedora 34. Those come with Gnome 40 so I think this is somehow connected to Gnome 41 release.

Journalctl -b -1 doesn't show any errors:

*****Laptop-Arch systemd[1]: Reached target Sleep.
*****Laptop-Arch systemd[1]: Starting System Suspend...
*****Laptop-Arch systemd-sleep[2415]: Entering sleep state 'suspend'...
*****Laptop-Arch kernel: PM: suspend entry (s2idle)

Still, the system hangs and needs to be hard rebooted.

How should I try to debug this problem?
