X Error of failed request: BadMatch

Hey, for my dual screen setup I have been using

xrandr --output HDMI1 --left-of eDP1

for quite a while. However, after a reboot this does not seem to work anymore and I get

X Error of failed request:  BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
  Major opcode of failed request:  140 (RANDR)
  Minor opcode of failed request:  21 (RRSetCrtcConfig)
  Serial number of failed request:  36
  Current serial number in output stream:  36

I am aware of this post, which seems unrelated. Other than that I couldn't find much.
