Dvico Fusion HDTV DVB-T [cx2388x] and 2.6.18

Hey,

Previously I've been using 2.6.17-Beyond and decided to upgrade my HTPC to the default 2.6.18-Arch. I have a TV Tuner card based on the Conextant cx2388xx chipset which uses the cx88-dvb module. With the new 2.6.18 kernel, my TV tuner card fails to lock on to any digital channel, though it maintains about 75% signal strength. Switching back to the former Beyond kernel and the tuner card works flawlessly. Since I upgraded the kernel, and MythTV from 0.19 to 0.20 at the same time, I thought it may have been MythTV. However, using the linuxtv-dvb-apps tzap application it still produced the same result. Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Tate

Had the same problem here with the same card and a second zarlink based dual card.

You can fix it by updating the v4l-dvb drivers through mercurial as outlined here http://linuxtv.org/repo/.

Basically, I do the following

hg clone http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb

make xconfig # diasable everything that is not related to cx88 or Conextant

make

sudo make install

sudo make reload #at this point the tuner should work. If not go back to make xconfig and add or delete modules as needed.

After all that i re-run mkinitcpio (I'm not sure if this is really needed but I feel better for doing it) reboot and make sure it still works.

I may pull my finger out and attempt to create a PKGBUILD for this eventually.....

Best of luck.

Thanks for the reply clarence, at least I know that I'm not alone. I've switched back to Beyond 2.6.17 for the time being.
