hi all, i've got an irritating situation on a friends relatively new install:
at boot, the system seems to hang after the fsck hook, took us some time and reading through pretty impeccable logs to realise that it doesn't actually stop there, but just continues through the whole boot process.
thing is, the only possible interaction with the system is switching to a different tty (yay!), after which the screen will be grabbed by the same fsck message after around one second. no input possible after that, but before it actually works to log in and execute commands.
anyone ever experienced something similar and knows how to bring the system back to something usable?
thanks for all pointers!
