i have recently bought castle crashers and although the game apparently plays fine there is no sound, previous to this i had no problem with sound even though i didn't configure anything. to be clear castle crashers is the only application without sound all other applications even other steam games seem to work normally.
i have lib32-libpulse and lib32-alsa-plugins.when i searched for a solution i found a similar problem described in the archwiki however when i ran
pacmd list-sink-inputs
i got
index: 0
driver: <protocol-native.c>
flags:
state: RUNNING
sink: 0 <alsa_output.pci-0000_00_09.2.analog-stereo>
volume: front-left: 65536 / 100% / 0.00 dB, front-right: 65536 / 100% / 0.00 dB, front-center: 65536 / 100% / 0.00 dB, lfe: 65536 / 100% / 0.00 dB, rear-left: 65536 / 100% / 0.00 dB, rear-right: 65536 / 100% / 0.00 dB

requested latency: 10.00 ms
sample spec: float32le 6ch 48000Hz
channel map: front-left,front-right,front-center,lfe,rear-left,rear-right
Surround 5.1
resample method: copy
module: 12
client: 9 <castle.exe>
properties:
media.name = "Audio Stream"
application.name = "castle.exe"
native-protocol.peer = "UNIX socket client"
native-protocol.version = "32"
application.process.id = "33377"
application.process.user = "eldritch"
application.process.host = "eldritch"
application.process.binary = "wine-preloader"
application.language = "pt_BR.UTF-8"
window.x11.display = ":99.0"
application.process.machine_id = "42c9d66095314b9798eabed1bbb28b8b"
application.process.session_id = "2"
module-stream-restore.id = "sink-input-by-application-name:castle.exe"
as you can see my sink input was neither muted or low volume so even when i tried following the steps provided i didn't get my application fixed
when i run hwinfo --sound i get this
and my output of pacmd list-sinks is this
i tried to run pulseaudio from the terminal with 2 vv as option and got this giant log
i then tried to run with only one v and got this smaller log

It's trying to play surround audio, did you disable remixing in your pulse config? Output of
pulseaudio --dump-conf
In general check your settings in game (... maybe also explicitly switch it to stereo output there), if it has a custom volume control and that is muted you won't see that from the outside.

the game only has volume settings and no other sound settings,and by default pulseaudio allows remixing, but this is irrelevant as steam updated and recognized that a file was missing and downloaded it. kinda annoying that it didn't do that either when i clicked the option to check integrity of game files or when i uninstalled and reinstalled the game but at least now its working.
