Primarily I'm interested in audio recording. Ideally, some sore of widget or Pulse Audio plugin that let me select the IO device or stream and just `tee` the audio to a wav file until I turn it off.
What I'm looking for is a good way to record webex/zoom/conference calls where the audio is going through my system.
I have tried some apps, but they don't support audio. I tried Peek, but after recording a 30-60 minute meeting, it locked up during rendering with ffmpeg and I never got an actual video file out of it.
I am not looking for anything cloud based.

Have you tried OBS?

No, I'm installing it now to give it a try, thanks!

It looks like it works for what I need, thanks!

Glad to hear! I've used it in the past for audio+video, however I wasn't too sure if it could record audio only.
Did you have any luck with an audio only recording?

It does work! Awesome thank you.
The only thing I would love to see is the ability to filter audio sources like pulse audio shows in the control panel. Ideally I would like it to record audio from one stream without requiring me to mute my local audio playing, but maybe I can see about adding that feature.

You can configure a virtual sink in pulseaudio that you can push the to be recorded stream to and only that will end up in the recording: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 5#p1897765
