Experience with Wayland KDE Plasma on nvidia card with nvidia drivers?

Hello,

I am writing this to see if anybody has a working experience on Wayland - KDE plasma (arch latest) with the nvidia proprietary drivers.
In my installation KDE launches, but I get
* blinking windows
* an almost irresponsive taskbar
* black mpv output
* Non working ibus
* ...

Is it supposed to work?
Did I fail to configure something properly? What did I miss?
Thank you for your feedback

Cheers

Re: Experience with Wayland KDE Plasma on nvidia card with nvidia drivers?

Wayland is still somewhat experimental and reliant on a few not yet published qt patches afaik. Xorg should work well, but you didn't provide anything of use that could be used to help you.

In general instead of assuming things are normal you should always assume something is weird on your system at first and provide relevant information. There's nothing about your actual HW here. So what are you actually running, and post some logs in code tags like your xorg log and

sudo journalctl -b
qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation

and terminal outputs of these commands that fail, e.g. what do you get from attempting to use mpv, by which means you are trying to start plasma/your graphical environment?

Re: Experience with Wayland KDE Plasma on nvidia card with nvidia drivers?

I perfectly understand and I wasn't asking for actual help.
But before debugging / getting into the nasty stuff of versions and references and logs, I just wanted to see if anybody was actually using KDE / Wayland / NVIDIA proprietary on daily basis.
Lots of distributions switched to wayland per default and frankly, from what I experience on my system, I don't see how this is possible, given the level of bugs.
However if this is supposed to work, then I will certainly debug and clean my system from end to end...
Hope this is clearer

Well you didn't mention Wayland previously, I doubt there's any distribution that enabled Wayland by default on nvidia yet. And there are a lot of smaller issues still with Wayland or at least KDE's/Qt's implementation of it irregardless of nvidia.  In any case nvidia released GBM support only with the just released 495 series there will be a few things needed to get ironed out across the stack for this to get fully stable.

Oh crap, you're right. I didn't mention wayland. (silly me) I corrected the thread name.
Ok your answer is a valid one.
KDE people seems very confident: https://community.kde.org/Plasma/Wayland/Nvidia
So I wondered if this was working
