foreign subforums?

from http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=25716

the idea to centralize the foreign forums by creating sub-forums is interesting however the disadvantage remains the loss of the resources of the already existing forums. The current solution (http://archlinux.org/moreforums/) seems enough. Why not making a poll ?

Re: foreign subforums?

I voted yes because I'm able to understand german, english and a little french. Why should I search in three different forums if I could find my informations here?

Lets unite the community instead of splitting it up!

edit: wrong statement about the german forum deleted

Haven't been here in a while. Still rocking Arch. smile

Re: foreign subforums?

Because we still have external forums for foreign languages, it would imho splitting up communities if we create such subforums here. I do not see any problems with the current situation. Of course colaboration between the different forums could be improved and I think they have to link each other. Also a common structure would be nice. But just sayinbg: "Oh, I do not like this; lets start something new" is not the right way here.

@Sigi: If you have any ideas how to improve archlinux.de you are very welcome to join our forums and tell us.

@All: I think we should thought about how we can improve the current situaiton.

Re: foreign subforums?

I agree with Pierre. IMHO it's not a good idea to have subforums here for languages that already have their own community sites with forums.

Re: foreign subforums?

I tend into the same direction as Pierre. If there is already an established forum, we don't need a new one here.

But a link like bbs.archlinux.org/de or so would be nice, wouldnt it?

Re: foreign subforums?

Voted 'Yes', on the condition that there isn't an existing, and well established outside forum for the relevant language, like with de or fr.

Re: foreign subforums?

allright guys I've made this poll expire in another week - 10/28/06 to be exact. Those who haven't voted do so now, and tell your friends get on and vote.
