Apologies I’m not formatting this properly I am unable to use my main pc and am currently posting this on an iPad. The issue I’m having is that I have rebooted my pc and the display manager isn’t working and is simply showing a black screen with a cursor at the top. When I do CTRL+ALT+F3 and issue the startx command I get the following output(I’m just putting the [ee] part as I need to type it all out manually)
(EE) Fatal server error:
(EE) no screens found(EE)Issuing the lighten —test-mode —debug gives the following errors:
[+0.01s] WARNING: Error reading existing Xauthority: Failed to open file ?/run/lightdm/root/:0?: Permission denied
[+0.01s] WARNING: XServer 0: Failed to write authority: Failed to open x authority /run/lightdm/root/:0: Permission deniedI’m currently at a loss as this happened a few days ago, I installed VMware and issued this command sudo modprobe -a vmw_vmci vmmon as I was getting a vmmon error I can’t think of anything else any help is much appreciated

There's a broken xorg config around (and you tried to run lightdm as regular user? But that's unrelated)
Please post a complete xorg log - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General - from the terminal (instead of trying to run startx)
You can use the tip in the first link below to post the file from the console.
