wehey! cool! I was waiting for this, couldn't see why it didn't happen earlier. Any chance of also seeing the nvidia beta drivers up there? I have it installed, i'm just thinking of all the chaps who have -ck but haven't installed the beta drivers yet.

I'll move the nvidia beta drivers from my private repo to the [unstable] repo this week, once I am back at my nvidia machine (which will be tomorrow). Of course, they will have a different name (nvidia-beta instead of nvidia, same for the other packages). I will also make a -ck package for them.

Question: I've read that this kernel is is targeted for desktop machines. The part that's really interesting to me is the added multi-threaded support. Other than installing the kernel, the NVidia package for this kernel, (I hope that those two will cover any dependencies that I would need), and adding an entry to Grub, what else would I have to do?
I suppose I should be less vague. For instance, would my old config files still work? You know, rc.cong, xorg.conf, so on? My current mkinitcpio file is stock. Would it still work correctly? Like that...

Yes, everything else will work unchanged.

That was frightfully simple. Thanks tomk for everything.

My pleasure - enjoy ck.

Hmm ,i'm a little confused ,because this ck kernel is targeted for similar purposes as beyond kernel. Is this replace for beyond?
And if not what about beyond?

great
not able to tell a difference now, but I guess once I get used to this and then try to go back, I will see it.
Anxiously awaiting the nvidia-beta as they are the only drivers that have detected my fonts correctly. For now using small fonts in Firefox.
Great work. I thank you.

Thanks for answer tomk. When i willl have some time i will gladly test this ck kernel

This kernel is certainly great for the desktop. Multi-threaded applications get to jump all over processing power. It's great to see my X2 processor driven so hard. Sweet!
