As mentioned in this reddit thread, you can pass
--overwrite 'filename'
to yay.
You should probably be careful with which files are going to be overwritten though.

Only one package should 'own' any individual file or directory on your system. Using overwrite to bypass that rule will read to problems. If you have been using e.g. pip to install non-pacman packages system-wide will also lead to problems.
Post the full output and we will be able to provide more specific advice. Do not just blindly use overwrite.
