External disk with two partitions: ntfs & ext4. How to manage mounts?

I have an NTFS partition on an external USB disk, used with NTFS-3G. In the same disk there is also an ext4 partition, that I need to be mounted in rw. Ntfs partition doesn't appear  in my /etc/fstab:

I don't need to mount NTFS partition in rw mode, it is OK to mount only in read mode. But also I need that the whole disk (that contains also an ext4 partition) to be connected or disconnected when Arch is running. So ext4 partition (dev/sdb5) should be synced in real time (correct?).

The questions is:

- Can I use option "sync" in /etc/fstab for the ext4 partition? This resolves my issue?
- Can I add another option in  /etc/fstab for the NTFS partition to force read-only mount, or should I use ntfs-3g options? (I don't understand if there is a config file for it).
