Xbox Controller doesn't work over wired connection or wireless

According to the wiki this should just work. It doesn't.

Xbox Wireless Controller / Xbox One Wireless Controller
Connect Xbox Wireless Controller with usb cable
This is supported by the kernel and should work without additional packages.

I have tried different usb ports, different kernels. I've tried using bluetooth as per my other post in this sub https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=272339

Does anyone know anything about this device for wired?

If you run "lsusb" can you see your controller on the devices list?

Unfortunately not. Doesn't matter, managed to get it working with stock bluetooth settings and an ASUS BT400 dongle.

Re: Xbox Controller doesn't work over wired connection or wireless

I'm faced with the same problem. I have an Xbox One S Controller model 1708. Based on this chart from the xone github page and the wiki, it was supposed to work. And I did manage to make it work (both wired and through bluetooth). But it does not anymore, so I am convinced it was a Linux system update that broke it.

On my Raspberry Pi (running Retropie) it works fine. It gets powered and the X light stays on. On my Arch it gets powered but the X light remains off.
It shows on lspci.

Bus 004 Device 005: ID 045e:02ea Microsoft Corp. Xbox One S Controller

I also get the symlinks /dev/input/by-id/usb-Microsoft_Controller_3032534630323635343733393239-event-joystick and /dev/input/by-id/usb-Microsoft_Controller_3032534630323635343733393239-joystick. None of them react to any button press.

dmesg provides the following info:

[ 3573.235205] usb 4-3: new full-speed USB device number 8 using ohci-pci
[ 3573.426842] usb 4-3: New USB device found, idVendor=045e, idProduct=02ea, bcdDevice= 4.08
[ 3573.426860] usb 4-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[ 3573.426868] usb 4-3: Product: Controller
[ 3573.426874] usb 4-3: Manufacturer: Microsoft
[ 3573.426879] usb 4-3: SerialNumber: 3032534630323635343733393239
[ 3573.432709] input: Microsoft X-Box One S pad as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.1/usb4/4-3/4-3:1.0/input/input33

I tried installing multiple drivers and nothing seems to make the controller work. What should I do to try and find answers that help resolve this issue?

Thank you for any help.
