Re: powersave and suspend to ram added

Thanks. I had already made some different settings yesterday, and when I turned on today, everything came back fine, as usual, I waited some nervous seconds - and nothing happened. Great! I like powersave, I like, arch, I like linux, I like lemon pie, I like Dylan, I like you all :-)
If I now can refrain from going out, I might aspire to some monster uptime too. I suppose i should turn it off if I start moving around, though (it's a laptop), since the machine is still active even though it is suspended. Or? Do I run a greater risk of damaging the hardware if I carry it around in a suspended state?

Re: powersave and suspend to ram added

new version is up, acpid is stopped and started now due to the shutdown problem.
USEDPMS add, some system won't wake up their monitors if enabled, some do not go off on suspend this should fix it.
added prism54 to be unloaded it seem it is causing trouble...

Re: powersave and suspend to ram added

I have a problem with suspend 2 ram, if I type 'powersave -u' the monitor goes off and after 1 sec it turns back on and I'm back where I started before trying to suspend.
I have a custom-built kernel made from the archlinux kernel26 2.6.15.2 PKGBUILD. Is there anything I need in my kernel to make this work?

The problem persists both in console and from X.

I have an ATi mobile radeon and ipw2200 wireless if that could be a problem. Here's the output from my messages.log:

Re: powersave and suspend to ram added

powersave -U does not work for me, using kernel26archck kernel, first it said that /boot/vmlinuz26archck does not match, i have to set SUSPEND2DISK_IGNORE_KERNEL_MISMATCH="yes" in /etc/powersave/sleep
when i set it, it complains about swap:/dev/hda8 cannot be used roll

here's my grub meny entry

title | Archck Silent Splash
root (hd0,4)
kernel /vmlinuz26archck root=/dev/hda6 ro video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr,1024x768-32@70 splash=silent,theme:darch console=tty1 resume=swap:/dev/hda8 resume2=swap:/dev/hda8 quiet
initrd /initramfs-2.6.15-archck.img

What could be wrong ??

Re: powersave and suspend to ram added

After the latest upgrade to KDE 3.5.2 (in testing), powersave doesn't work anymore. Error message:

powersave: error while loading shared libraries: libdbus-1.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

... which is correct enough: I have libdbus-1.so and libdbus-1.so.2, which are both links to libdbus-1.so.2.0.0.
Can I make a new softlink called libdbus-1.so.1? Or will that mess up things?

I know, this is the kind of thing I should expect when I use testing...

Re: powersave and suspend to ram added

For what it's worth, after the latest upgrade, cpufreq doesn't work either - same library missing. And VLC complains about the same thing... That's one popular chick, that libsysfs.so.1... :-)

Re: powersave and suspend to ram added

eNTi, do you have both acpi and powersaved in your rc.conf's DAEMONS? powersaved starts acpi automatically (as well as dbus and hal), so remove all of those and just start powersaved.

i didn't have acpid in my rc.conf, and i still can't unload the nvidia module? is there a problem with 4k stacks, because i'm on beyond-patchset.

Thank you for this!  I spent forever trying to make suspend work in Ubuntu, but now in Arch I just install your package, add my wireless card to the unload list, and suspend works!

"Your beliefs can be like fences that surround you.
You must first see them or you will not even realize that you are not free, simply because you will not see beyond the fences.
They will represent the boundaries of your experience."
