[Kcrash / drkonqi] Dr. Konqi in the Arch Repos is Useless

I've asked about this in the KDE bug tracker once before but the response was that the issue is downstream and I'm to contact someone but I don't know who to contact?

Basically, Dr. Konqi never produces successful backtraces when applications crash in Plasma and always claims that it's because certain things are missing; this issue effectively makes having Dr. Konqi installed useless dead-weight to average users because it never provides information users can send to KDE to look for bugs.

Since it's a "downstream" issue, I take it would have to take into account changing what's done with the related packages in the Arch repos?

So this, absolutely has to be delegated to unofficial repositories??
Like, yes, that appears to be a solution but is this only the case because they're refused to be added to the official repositories?

What?
The linked wiki explains how to build packages w/ debug symbols enabled - this has nothing to do w/ refusal, the reason is explained in the header of the wiki.
Eg. qt5-base is ~13 MB. The debug symbols are 240 MB. For a rolling release model, that's just a lot of overhead.

Ah, okay; I misunderstood (I had just scrolled down to Qt5 and assumed that was the what they meant)
It's late at night and that's just what made sense to me at the time

The solutions though are... far less than elegant though; I understand the reasoning but I've tried using ASP for different although similar purposes before and it was not a fun time hunting down dependency issues and manually keeping track of packages made with it and the same goes for compiling a KDE system with the AUR - it just doesn't keep track of dependency chains well in certain scenarios like this.

With that said...
I am going to turn to an unofficial repo (ALHP) for this but it's... quite unfortunate the state of this is.

There is work being done on that issue and slowly there's progress.

Support for packages with debug symbols has been recently added to the dbscripts that are used to maintain archlinux repos.
See the mail thread starting at https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/a … 30583.html .

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
