Is libxml2 no longer supposed to provide the python2 modules?
I get only this:
$ pacman -Ql libxml2 | grep 'lib/python'

libxml2 /usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/__pycache__/

It seems to be a different Python library. What if I need to build an old project that uses "import libxml2"?

Indeed, python2 support was removed. You could rebuild the package from the previous version.
