[SOLVED] How to troubleshoot userspace startup?

Hello guys. Arch linux takes too long to start, userspace takes 90s+. Is there the way to find a process that slows down startup?

Criticial chain clearly shows that it's the network initialization. Is there a problem? Your WM/DE can be up long before systemd will report the graphical target is complete (particularly when networking tools are in the dependency chain for graphical target).

I tried to start up with disabled NetworkManager.service, nothing changes

Nonsense. It definitely changes - if you get the exact same output from those commands, then networkmanager wasn't actually disabled.

But that's all beside the point. Why would you disable networkmanager? Isn't that what you use for networking?

That said, given that it is really 1 minute 30 seconds, I gather a service process is timing out and failing (as 90s is the default for this). What's the output of `systemctl status network.target`?

I meant that system keeps booting 90 seconds, i didn't have internet connection when NM was disabled etc. Later i deleted it and still had 90s boot time.

also did this (renamed this service).
I think i should try Systemctl Status every process that shows Systemd-analyze Plot and find the process that is not launched, may be try to disable it

Is this just what you are seeing in the systemd-analyze output, or are you actually timing it with a watch / wallclock? Are you actually prevented from logging in and using your GUI for 90 seconds?

Typically one can log in and use the system even if some remaining processes are continuing. Systemd-analyze reports the time until all of these background processes finish, not the time until you are able to use your system.

But again, 90s seems like too much of a coincidence - some service is likely failing / timing out. Unfortunately debugging systemd has always seemed to be black magic to me. Hopefully others can give more specific diagnostics - but if it were me I'd check the journal and check the status of all services to find which one is timing out.

From the systemd-analyze plot you can see that "network.target" does not start until the activation of "sys-devices-pci0000:00-0000:00:08.1-0000:04:00.4-usb3-3\x2d2-3\x2d2:1.0-net-wlan1.device" (?) is completed. Try starting without this device to see if there is an improvement.
You can also try the command:

systemd-analyze dot ‘network.target’ | dot -Tsvg > name.svg

It requires the installation of "dot" and "graphviz".

It sticks on a black screen, where is written that systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service failed to start, and white cursor blanks. I can't even use other TTYs

It starts as usual linux should start, then goes to that screen:

waits here ~90 seconds (if i press ctrl+alt+f2, i will see just black screen with blanking cursor, no input prompt), then goes to lightdm, and then to xfce. The system works fine
UPD I thought that GUI is always on ctrl+alt+f1, but he is on ctrl+alt+f7. I pressed accidentally ctrl+alt+f1 and found this:

UPD 2 i deleted the netctl profile (i use network manager, i thought i've deleted it) and it solved my problem

That means you have a networking daemon enabled that tries to set up a device that doesn't exist or is handled by NM. Disable all netctl services that are currently active run a

find /etc/systemd -type l -exec test -f {} \; -print | awk -F'/' '{ printf ("%-40s | %s\n", $(NF-0), $(NF-1)) }' | sort -f

to find out what else might be active. The only thing network related in that list should be NetworkManager
