I'm trying to use the beep command to make the PC's buzzer sound, but I've found this can only be accomplished when running the command as root. Is there any way to run it as a normal user? Thanks.

For non-root uses, the system administrator can set up a udev(7) rule to allow write access to /dev/input/by-path/plat‐form-pcspkr-event-spkr for certain users and/or user groups. For details, see the beep /usr/share/doc/beep/PERMISSIONS.md file.
