ALSA wont save specific settings despite doing alsactl store

Hey there, I am relatively new to Linux and I have been having an issue with my sound settings that I just can't seem to fix. I have tried Googling and using the Arch Wiki, which told me to do a variety of things (most involving alsactl store or RC file stuff), but nothing has worked.

I have tried just doing sudo alsactl store, editing alsactl --file ~/.config/asound.state store, and making an RC file to load it on startup, but it doesn't change anything.

All of my sound settings are remembered for the most part, with the exception of the "Front" channel, which ALWAYS resets to 70%+muted after every log in.

I have a Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus sound card.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Please only post thumbnails or links.

If you're using pipewire/pulseaudio they store and restore their own volume information and you need to do such adjustments in an appropriate client like e.g. pavucontrol. Also whatever you read about RC files will be outdated and non applicable in Arch and you can remove whatever you did there and instead see how this is handled in Arch/systemd: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Advanc … nd_systemd
