Re: TFT's you got to love 'em

I run a Dell 2005FPW widescreen LCD that is 1650x1080 with no problems on Arch. It's all about tweaking the
xorg.conf
. Is there another reason you think that monitor would be problematic?

Re: TFT's you got to love 'em

Was told it was more for playing DVD's

Which I do not sooo ....

Just modify xorg.conf cool ....

Well I like the look of it ... would give me more screen estate over my 15"

thanks guys

The only problem with TFT's (although a subjective problem I admit) is the way that fonts are rendered. I still prefer the Windows Cleartype font rendering, and something similar in Linux is one thing I really miss

Re: TFT's you got to love 'em

Sure it's a late post but...

Personally, I'm not a fan of 19" widescreen LCD. The resolutions really isn't that great at 1440x900. If you step up to a nice 20" Wide you get 1680x1050. That gets you some real estate to be happy with. Otherwise, stick with a standard 17" or 19". Both give you the same resolution of 1280x1024 which is noticeable compared to a 15" LCD only doing 1024x768. As far as text, I've never had an issue as long as you run native resoluion of the panel.
