without having made any updates to the (previously working) steam client or the Arch system, I can no longer connect to Steam online.
I have installed version 1.0.0.74 of the client. I have also tried steam-native-runtime 1.0.0.70.
kernel 5.16.0
I tried to uninstall, remove all config and game files, and reinstall.
after reinstall, it attempts to update the client and still can not connect.
it was suggested I run
steam -tcp
however, that fails as well.
I am using an unknown business network. is it possible they are blocking Steam connections? that's just my shot-in-the-dark question because I get this
assert_20220115125953_8.dmp[18781]: Finished uploading minidump (out-of-process): success = yes
assert_20220115125953_8.dmp[18781]: response: <html><body>You are being <a href='http://wired.meraki.com:8090/blocked.cgi?blocked_server=208.64.203.140:80&blocked_url=http%3A%2F%2Fcrash.steampowered.com%2Fsubmit&blocked_categories=bc_034'>redirected</a>.</body></html>
assert_20220115125953_8.dmp[18781]: file ''/tmp/dumps/assert_20220115125953_8.dmp'', upload yes: ''<html><body>You are being <a href='http://wired.meraki.com:8090/blocked.cgi?blocked_server=208.64.203.140:80&blocked_url=http%3A%2F%2Fcrash.steampowered.com%2Fsubmit&blocked_categories=bc_034'>redirected</a>.</body></html>''
but Ivre read elsewhere people were having problems as well.

Looks like that business network uses meraki to control what connected systems can and can't do .
Blocking gaming related sites/ servers is rather common for business networks.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
