can I disable disk encryption without losing data?

If /home is on a separate partition/blockdevice, yes. There are --decrypt options to permanently remove it, after a backup (of course). https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dm-cry … ng_devices

thank you!
/home is located as a separate partition, on a single disk. Is there a chance that I will lose data? I can only do this on a live usb/cd?

There is always Murphy's Law until you backup first.
You don't necessarily need a separate live system. If all users with a /home directory are logged out and you log in as root, you should be able to unmount /home cleanly to run the cryptsetup action to --decrypt the device, right?
