How can I run gdm and gdm-session-worker as gdm user and not as root?

How can I change

root         896  0.0  0.0 242988 10380 ?        Ssl  20:21   0:00 /usr/bin/gdm
root        1429  0.0  0.0 172544 13272 ?        Sl   20:21   0:00 gdm-session-worker [pam/gdm-password]
andrew      1523  0.0  0.0 158328  5764 tty2     Ssl+ 20:21   0:00 /usr/lib/gdm-wayland-session /usr/bin/gnome-session

to run as gdm user? I changed it in

> cat /etc/gdm/custom.conf
[daemon]
WaylandEnable=true
User=gdm
Group=gdm

using nvidia card, latest linux-hardened kernel, and gbm
I tried changing the user in the gdm.service systemd file but it did not start
