System freeze, reset button didn't work, could it be software issue?

Hi,
yesterday i was playing Beholder via steam.
suddently, my pc hanged/freezed; the keyboard leds did not react nor the machine answered to pings.
Reset button, which normally works, didn't reboot the machine, 5 seconds on the power button did the trick.
Nothing in the logs after the reboot.
After that i tried to run a benchmark in Shadow of the Tomb raider and the system completed it without issues.
Also, the system has been solid without hangs till yesterday.

My general question is:
could it be due to a bug in a driver (maybe the video driver) that hanged so bad the machine or it is certain that it was an hardware malfunction?

CPU is a i5-4590 on an Asus Z97-K
GPU is a Radeon RX5600xt i use via amdgpu+mesa and rendered on the intel gpu via DRI_PRIME when gaming.

Intel Haswell CPUs need µcode fixes to avoid instability. Have you installed the intel-ucode package and configured the bootloader to apply them?

I am sorry to interrupt you.
I recently upgraded the BIOS which includes intel µcode, should I still install intel-ucode and boot with the intel-ucide image?
it's ASUS prime B560-A with i5-11400.

Yes ad yes, thanks.
I'm using intel-ucode 20171117-1, anything after it contained security mitigations i'm not interested in.
Also, the event seems to be isolated.

I'm not sure if your answer addresses the main question too: Could a software issue lead to system hang, making the reset button ineffective, or an hardware malfuncion is necessary to trigger that case?

News about those Haswell bugs not being fixed

mitigations=off, i915.mitigations=off won't fix those.

Yeah,  thanks, there may be issues, but i've not faced them because none of them seems to trigger that kind of hang and i didn't experienced any graphical corruption.
Also, it did not happen again since i posted here.

Any reason i am missing because you think what you posted is related?

Same thing just happened to me. i7 4790 latest kernel with installed ucode.
