Hi, maybe this is a very nooby question, it's my first time setting up arch with nvidia to play some games.
As here (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … figuration), I ran the following command:
nvidia-xconfig
I validated the file has been created (content):
[root@fhw ~]$ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
# nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig
# nvidia-xconfig: version 495.44
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Layout0"
Screen 0 "Screen0"
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
EndSection
Section "Files"
EndSection
Section "InputDevice"
# generated from default
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "auto"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection
Section "InputDevice"
# generated from default
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "kbd"
EndSection
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Unknown"
ModelName "Unknown"
Option "DPMS"
EndSection
Section "Device"
Identifier "Device0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Device0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
EndSubSection
EndSection
Now, when I run the command
nvidia-settings --load-config-only
the following error occurs:
[root@fhw ~]$ nvidia-settings --load-config-only
(nvidia-settings:85284): Gtk-WARNING **: 14:32:55.081: Theme parsing error: gtk.css:73:46: The style property GtkScrolledWindow:scrollbars-within-bevel is deprecated and shouldn't be used anymore. It will be removed in a future version
ERROR: NVIDIA driver is not loaded
ERROR: Unable to load info from any available system
Now, if I startup my computer, the xorg won't get loaded.
I have fixed with moving the xorg.conf, but now I'm at the beginning of my problem... any advices?
Thanks!

Have you tested installing package nvidia-prime and reboot ?
My driver nvidia has been loaded, when I have installed this package.

I ran the following command
Don't.
The proprietary NVIDIA graphics card driver does not need any Xorg server configuration file.
Also nvidia-xconfig creates a bunch of cruft that will also not work properly w/ optimus systems.
Please post the xorg log of a working server, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General and a complete system journal:
sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'f:1=<-' ix.io
@heybix, nvidia-prime only provides /usr/bin/prime-run which simply sets some environment to invoke a process on the nvidia chip
It has *not* fixed any issues w/ starting X11 for you (except that it would have drawn in nvidia-utils)

Thanks.
You mean an xorg log while the xorg.conf is renamed and the os running fine or do you mean the log while using the xorg.conf which was generated and the computer won't startup correctly?
The given journalctl command is returning "no results to fetch".
While using no xorg conf the output for xorg log:
[root@fhw ~]$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
[ 43348.410] _XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed
[ 43348.410] _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: server already running
[ 43348.410] (EE)
Fatal server error:
[ 43348.410] (EE) Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already running(EE)
[ 43348.410] (EE)
Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
at http://wiki.x.org
for help.
[ 43348.410] (EE) Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for additional information.
[ 43348.410] (EE)
[ 43348.410] (EE) Server terminated with error (1). Closing log file.
So I'm pretty sure I am using a wrong log file (because the server is stopped, I think), could you please give me some advice which steps I should do to get on your needed log?

Yes. I want to see what the system is ready to do.
The given journalctl command is returning "no results to fetch".
Journal too big?
Redirect the journalctl output into a file and upload that somewhere (in doubt a google drive)
could you please give me some advice which steps I should do to get on your needed log?
Did, the Xorg#General link in #3 explains where to find the log depending on how X11 is started.

Here's the journalctl: http://ix.io/3N8N
And here the /var/log/Xorg.0.log: http://ix.io/3N8Q

[ 5.140] Current Operating System: Linux fhw 5.9.16-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Dec 21 22:00:46 UTC 2020 x86_64
https://bbs.archlinux.org/misc.php?action=rules
You're running the modesetting driver on the nvidia chip, nvidia isn't even considered.
The journal has
Jan 22 16:31:27 fhw systemd-modules-load[220]: Failed to find module 'nvidia'
Jan 22 16:31:27 fhw systemd-modules-load[220]: Failed to find module 'nvidia-drm'
Jan 22 16:31:27 fhw systemd-modules-load[220]: Failed to find module 'nvidia-uvm'
So there's at least no kernel package installed.

Alright, thanks.
Which of them would be the needed? Is the os safe to start after installing those packages?

There's just one kernel package and you'll the a version that fits your pretty dated manjaro kernel.
Which exactly idk - I don't use manjaro (and this is also why the linke rules exist)
