Display goes black and logs me out when I try to open blender

Hello everyone, I'm relatively new to arch cinnamon edition and started having this issue once I did a clean install. I use blender for 3D and I installed it using "sudo pacman -S blender" which installed the latest stable version which is 3.0.0. I have blender now pinned to the panel and to my favorites to open more easily. But when I click the blender logo to open, my monitors go black for a second and then I am prompted to log in. All my previously open windows are now closed and blender isn't open. I have plenty of other apps like Davinci Resolve that I installed using git and simplify 3D which had a modified .desktop entry placed in the applications folder which works fine.

As a sanity check I tried downloading blender form the blender website, modifying the .desktop entry for it and putting that in the application folder. But again I have that issue where if I run it from the panel or favorites, it logs me out again, closes all open applications, and doesn't open blender. The only way I found that it works is to "add to desktop" so that there's a desktop shortcut, and then launch it from there. Not a huge inconvenience but definitely not my preferred way of doing things. This wasn't an issue until I did a clean install. Thinking that I did something wrong I've tried to do another clean install but that hasn't fixed it. I tried looking around online but can't seem to find an answer to my question, mainly because I'm not sure if I'm wording it properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did blender or cinnamon core dump?

Welcome to the forums.
Sounds like your Xorg session is crashing (I don't think Cinnamon runs on Wayland)   You might look at your Xorg logs for clues.
