Cinnamon not working

I installed cinnamon with the cinnamon package, and I launch it with .xinitrc. But whenever I do so it just displays my desktop and Mullvad (which starts automatically) and a black screen. There is no actual desktop environment. How do I fix this? I used to run Xfce before

Make sure your .xinitrc follows the proper template: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xinit#xinitrc

Other than that, check whether the journal contains any information on why it isn't working.

I don't really know what to really change in my xinitrc, it just has one line and that is the

exec cinnamon-session

which the arch wiki tells me to append to my xinitrc. Just using

exec startxfce4

works just fine as well.

I also tried using cinnamon-session-cinnamon2d but that displayed just an actual black screen with no desktop or Mullvad starting.

However I did check my journalctl and wow there seems to be a lot:

Though while in a Xfce session it looks like it also prints similar things but related to xfce

Just one line is insufficient, please read the linked section which mentions to copy the template from /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc  and append the relevant exec command to the end. (you can remove the previous block starting twm and some clocks, but the if block sourcing systemd scripts should remain.

The dbus errors you have here are very likely due to lacking these definitions.

Hey, sorry for not really listening to your original suggestion

I copied and overwrote my .xinitrc from /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc, and removed the last 5 lines and appended "exec cinnamon-session" at the end.
It had the same result though, and the journalctl looks the same

Well! Looks like I needed to update my system lol.
I don't know why I never thought of that, but pacman -Syu and now it seems to work fantastically. I will come back if something occurs
