Hi All,
I'm attempting to use the 7zG service menu for p7zip, however it doesn't seem to install and gives a rather broad error
"An error occurred during the installation process:
The installation failed with code 1 while attempting to run the command:
servicemenuinstaller install /home/UserFolder/.local/share/servicemenu-download/132673-7zG_ServiceMenu.tar.gz"
There is no output line for the error.
I was previously informed (on a former install) this was simply a ruby script and just switched it to the kservices5/servicemenus folder made chmod + x and it worked fine.
I do that now, and it simply won't perform the commands from within Dolphin.
Do you use service menus? Do you have any suggestions?
How long is the support for these Service Menus?
** Side note, I'm aware that pling is/was currently down, but I have downloaded the service menu prior to the outage.

Well, after some digging and reading the readme for the service menu, it had the requirement for 7zG gui component and requires user interaction to build the service menu. I don't recall that last time I downloaded, but maybe I used a different service menu. *shrugs*
Anyhow, I followed the read and downloaded the pz7 version from https://sourceforge.net/projects/p7zip/ … t/download and extracted and attempted to make 7zG, which first failed on yasm, so i installed that, then the make operation failed due to a deprecated bool function in operator ++ that I just learned started with C++17.
Rather than download an old version of C++, I'm giving up on this service menu.
Strangely it appears that Ubuntu maintains the 7zG gui portion (it's in the current repos) of pzip, but I couldn't find current source code, only a .deb package. Yay.
Does anyone have suggestions for an alternative 7z context menu in KDE?
Thanks.

Appreciate it. The app is nice to have.
Might you know how to install the service menus that support it?

You don't need to install anything. The service menus are already included in the package. You may have to enable them in dolphin settings, though.
