Thunar/Udiskie don't mount external drive automatically

When I run udiskie as a background process with

udiskie &

both udiskie and Thunar handle auto-mounting of a USB flash drive.

However, neither of those two programs auto-mount 2TB WD Elements external drive.

When I try to mount the drive manually using udiskie-mount, this is what I get:

$ udiskie-mount /dev/sdb1                                                    
not mounting /org/freedesktop/UDisks2/block_devices/sdb1: unhandled device

udisks, however, mounts it without any issue:

$ udisksctl mount -b /dev/sdb1                                              
Mounted /dev/sdb1 at /run/media/patres/elements

I've installed all the support programs for Thunar, namely thunar-volman and gvfs, and even tried udevil.

I've also enabled automount-related option in Thunar's UI settings:

I get same results even when using the Nemo file-manager.

I don't suspect it's got anything to do with polkit, since manual mounting works when using udisks or even bashmount directly.
