[Solved-bug patch wait] VLC not remembering volume after latest update

*trying to report this as a possible bug to VLC gitlabs as well, but their email confirmation is taking some time to work...

After updating recently VLC media player always sets volume to 100% upon starting any new track.

-advanced preference setting for "remember the audio volume" is checked but seems to be ignored
-since audio settings in sound options are linked to VLC, trying to lower the volume in something like Kmix will also reset the volume to 100% on changing any track.

Where would I be looking to track why VLC is ignoring this setting to remember audio volume?

Solution Edit: pipewire-pulse/pipewire-alsa bug still as of 2/2/2022
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire … ssues/2073

pipewire users may have to downgrade temporarily or either watch for a patch. Issue may happen for other ALSA-pulse related audio programs as well.

Re: [Solved-bug patch wait] VLC not remembering volume after latest update

If you use VLC's pulse backend then this setting should and is expected to be handled by the pulse daemon. It's possible that this is a bug in pipewire-pulse/wireplumber if you're using those. It works fine here on standard pulseaudio.

Re: [Solved-bug patch wait] VLC not remembering volume after latest update

That is the case for me then as I've migrated fully to Pipewire for other Pro-audio needs.

Would I be prettymuch just waiting on a pipewire-pulse patch then?
