dosbox crash on fullscreen: X Error of failed request: BadValue

When I start dosbox and press alt+enter the program crashes with an error

X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request:  153 (XFree86-VidModeExtension)
  Minor opcode of failed request:  10 (XF86VidModeSwitchToMode)
  Value in failed request:  0x2800003
  Serial number of failed request:  246
  Current serial number in output stream:  248

After that I change the screen resolution and dosbox works again, but full screen does not expand the game area! My drivers xf86-video-intel

The default config for dosbox will try to set the output to VGA, what should™ work but apparently doesn't on your setup and isn't all that great anyway.
Edit ~/.dosbox/dosbox-0.74-3.conf and try eg. "fullresolution=desktop" and "output=opengl", you might have to fix the aspect.
