Lines across screen when waking up

Hi all, I am having an issue with my monitor when I wake my PC from sleep. There are these colored lines on the monitor that take up almost the entire screen. I took some pictures and they can be seen here

It has been doing this for a while, but started off just at the very bottom of my monitor and would go away quickly so I never paid it much attention. However, recently it has gotten a lot worse as seen in the photos and now take 10-15 minutes to go away.

I don't think it is a hardware issue because when I Ctrl+Alt F2 to switch to a separate virtual terminal the lines are 100% gone instantly and I can log in there. I also replaced the displayport cable and have tried alternate DP outputs on my graphics card.

The Monitor is a MSI Optix G27C and xrandr shows I am set to 144Hz
Graphics card is GTX 1070 and I am using the nvidia driver:

        Subsystem: eVga.com. Corp. Device 6173
        Kernel driver in use: nvidia

I thought it might be a driver issue but it looks like everything in the log files are working fine. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I’m traveling for work so I won’t be able to try this until later in the week but I’ll try it and let you know. Thanks.
