Pacman error

while performing

pacman -Syu

I get following error:

error: anonymous login failed
Control socket read failed: File exists

This happens with
current but not with extra, pacman also starts to download packages. This error message puzzles me though. What does that mean? Quick search didn't bring any light to the matter.. :s

Re: Pacman error

hummm...orginally I thought something might have been wrong with the mirror you were trying to access hence the question.  But ibiblio.org is a pretty reliable mirror and I was able to connect to it today.

This problem is beyond my knowledge but running Pacman in verbose mode might give you some more insight into the problem.

#pacman -Syuv

For some reason,  it gives that error when I try to connect for extra to ftp.rez-gif.supelec.fr which was located first in extra servers listing..

So your tip for trying the verbose mode did the trick.. duh. Should have thought that myself. big_smile Anyway, thanks for your input! big_smile
