KDE Black screen after login

I've been using arch with plasma for a while and everything was working fine up until now.
I decided to try out i3 window manager. I installed i3 group and rebooted, chose i3 as desktop session on login screen and booted into it. At this point I was able to switch between plasma(with x11) and i3 desktop session fine through the login screen.

In i3 desktop session, I ran startx command not knowing what I was doing. After i rebooted, the login screen showed up fine. However logging into plasma brings me to a black screen with only the cursor visible.

Re: KDE Black screen after login

You either conducted a partial udpate and plasma crashes or introduced/revealed a problem in your GL stack.
When you boot the black plasma session, can you see something after disabling the compositor (SHIFT+Alt+F12)
When you switch to a different VT (Ctrl+Alt+F2) and login there, does "ps aux | grep plasma" show a runing plasma process (not the grep process which will match itself)
Did you perhaps previously use plasam on wayland? Can you still login to such session?
