The real check would be whether iwd still segfaults if it's properly configured and it's the only thing controling the wifi device (i.e. networkmanager actually configured to use iwd or networkmanager not being started at the same time as iwd is)

Or patch iwd with https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/network/ … 86b8a9f022 and run multiple network management tools,  iwd should not segfault the result should only be unreliable network connectivity.

It doesn't solve the issue, but avoids it. iwd cannot segfault when you do not start it.

this is correct, to be clear, I only did this because I had BOTH wpa_supplicant and iwd installed and running at the same time, so I removed iwd since networkmanager uses wpa_supplicant by default. If this is not your usecase before removing iwd then something else is going on and should be fixed upstream.
