Any ideas?
Yup: describe your problem.
Thanks for your time.
No, don't thank us for our time, respect our time by investing some of your own exploring and outlining the symptoms clearly in a way that is easy to process for those you are seeking help from.
When does the problem happen? Is it specific to that one browser/software-tool, if so, which browser is that? If not, where else does it happen?

The file chooser widget integrated into applications is not the same thing as a file manager and can not and is not replaced with a generic file manager like pcmanfm
Normally that window is expected to be a floating modal dialog, that you also might have to resize appropriately, see: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dwm#Fl … me_windows use xprop or so to get the exact window name of the chooser dialog.

Your file manager has nothing to do with the dialog that appears when uploading files from your browser.
This is the responsibility of the file-chooser for the toolkit that your browser is using. Until you give us more information about your browser/DE/WM we have no usefull information to go on.

What does this mean? How are you using the file manager to upload with a browser?

Which browsers exactly?
I don't believe that you've tried every single one.

I'm pretty sure that V1del is right on the money and DWM isn't configured to float that dialog and the gtk file chooser responds poorly to that.

Thank a lot.
Let me try to understand the source code of dwm
