External monitors not detected unless connected at boot.

I have been using arch for about a year now. Until about a week ago (not sure exact of when this started) my setup was working perfectly.  Recently I started running into an issue where my laptop (Lenovo P1 Gen 2) only detects my two external monitors (one connected via HDMI the other via USB-C) if they are both connected at boot. If I try to disconnect after boot and reconnect, my machine cant seem to detect them.

I am very confused and would really appreciate any help. Here is the output of Xrandr after both connected (after boot).

The extra outputs will be wired to the nvidia chip, you running on the intel one and reverse prime only implicitly triggered when the outputs are active on the nvidia GPU when X11 starts.

Check your pacman log - either the X11 server had unconditionally activated the redirection or some DM/session startup script did.
I was quite frankly not aware of any such implicit behavior (and would not rely on such magic either)

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.

So actually this is not solved. It just turns out that now, when I boot with the monitors connected I can connect and disconnect no problem. But if I boot without the monitors connected I run into issues.

Here is the output of some commands used when follwing the reverse prime directions:

Something went wrong about your nvidia driver installation.

Edit: perhaps a race condition and you need https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … de_setting or - if you have the modules in the initramfs - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA#pacman_hook

Well, you certainly had it configured.
If you're using sddm see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xrandr#Configuration and run "xrandr --setprovideroutputsource NVIDIA-G0 modesetting" in the Xsetup script
