shutdown: 'Failed to unmount /oldroot: Device or resource busy

Hi guys,

I've been receiving the following messages when i shutdown/poweroff my computer lately. Was wondering if anyone could lend some assistance and help me troubleshoot the problem? Let me know what log I should be showing and what commands to run and I will post it right away! Thanks in advance.

Failed to unmount /oldroot: Device or resource busy
Failed to unmount /oldroot/sys: Device or resource busy
Failed to finalize file systems, ignoring.

I searched about this online a little bit and it has something to do with the Nvidia driver or something?
But i've never had problems with this in the past back when i was using the Nvidia driver package.
After Nvidia no longer supports the older Geforce 770 GPU, I've been using these two: (nvidia-470xx-dkms), and (nvidia-470xx-utils), but even so, I only just started encountering this problem recently.

Same problem and I have never installed anything from Nvidia, does anyone know the reason for this message? How to fix it?

EDIT:
I have blacklisted the watchdog modules:

$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/nowatchdog.conf
blacklist iTCO_wdt
blacklist sp5100_tco
