[SOLVED] Program Freezes, dmesg "BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference"
Occasionally when playing video games or running multiple programs at once, the program currently active will freeze. My system is fully updated (pacman -Syu). Sometimes just the current program freezes, sometimes the entire computer will freeze and force me to hard restart. I'm able to reproduce the bug pretty easily by playing Noita for about 15 minutes. I was able to find two error messages throug dmesg when noita.exe froze:

Thanks for the suggestions. I checked microcode and it's up to date and loaded early. I have tried memtest86 and mprime before but it was able to do that fine. I tried the kernel boot parameters but the crash persisted, I realized after that it's most likely because my graphics card is AMD. I have an AMD Lexa Pro RX550 gpu and AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT cpu.

Neither of the two traces you posted points involves the GPU drivers but suggest memory access.

For how long? memtest86+ takes *days* to reliably detect wonky memory - at least over night. If you ran half a cycle and lost patience, that's meaningless.
If it's not the RAM, it's more likely the CPU, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Ryzen#Troubleshooting for how to disable c-states and increasing the voltage.

Mprime ran for about 8 hours with no errors; memtest went overnight and finished 3 or 4 cycles. I'll try out the instructions you linked and I'll give memtest86 another go tonight into tomorrow.

Increasing the voltage in UEFI settings and adding the following kernel parameters from https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Ryzen#Soft … en_Ryzen_7 seems to have fixed the problem.
