You read that correctly,
I chose to edit /etc/pacman.conf based on the "#1 recommendation for avoiding problems with arch linux" by a fellow youruber..upon rebooting, i was greeted by the black screen of death!
I decided to read my journal comments based on some advice here, and decided I was in too deep, might need to reinstall the entire operating system than since I was using my HDD as a backup for my external SSD rather than my internal SSD!
But than I rememvered ignoring the linux package to "avoid not being able to login and operating system failures." sic
I decided to use the cli from the screen of death by pressing ALT + F2, which I had to do recently after I enabled a firewall startup service with icmp blocks, resulting in my first black screen of death as an arch user.
Anyway, I soon as I removed the ignore package comment from /etc/pacman.conf and updated the kernel with pacman -Syu the problem was resolved upon rebooting- which seemed odd because I did the resaerch on the kernel update beforehand and there were only two noted updates on the official archwiki page for said kernel update, which did not seem either relevant or important.
Thoughts?
Or any comments relevant to what just occured, and why this would happen when the so called expert trained us to do the exact opposite "from years of experience," lol!

A youtuber was wrong? Say it isn't so! </sarcasm>
Ignoring the kernel as a general recommendation is just ridiculous. If you do ignore it for a specific reason, there are also other things you have to pay attention to, such as out of tree modules.

If you want to avoid new kernel bugs (or "features" as the devs call them) then use the linux-lts package. The regressions will still get you but at a slower rate.
Linux sucks differently every time a kernel is released.
It's funny 'cos it's true...
