Hi all,
i'm having trouble getting my second monitor recognized in a MST diasychain setup using displayport.
i'm using radeon sapphire 270X with the AMDgpu driver, proven to work cables (on the same setup with a different computer) , 2 U2417H displays and i've enabled the MST option on the first display in the chain.
regardless of the settings i've used it would just mirror the first display instead recognizing it as a separated screen.
xrandr is showing only one displayport.
i've searched around this forums and others but i haven't found anything that is relevant to my problem.
i'm hoping maybe someone here can point me at the right direction.
Thanks!
my setup :

For future internet wanderer,
i've managed to solve my issue.
i ended up using Radeon driver over AMDgpu.
first i modinfo both drivers to see if they have the mst parameter, noticed the radeon has it so i loaded it
and enabled mst parameter with a config file at etc/modprobe.d/
options radeon mst=1 and it worked.
as far as i can tell AMDgpu should support mst but maybe doesn't expose it directly.
looked in to Red hat docs to solve this.
hope this helps

Hi,
I'm facing a similar issue (r9 380).
How do you manage to install the Radeon driver?
According to radeon webpage the AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12 is from 2015.
I've downloaded it, but cannot install it due to support up to 1.10 XServer version only.
error: Detected X Server version 'XServer _64a' is not supported. Supported versions are X.Org 6.9 or later, up to XServer 1.10 (default:v2:x86_64:lib32:XServer _64a:none:5.10.96-1-MANJARO:)
Installation will not proceed.Big blame for AMD for not, because all the other drivers are up to date (Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS).
The MST is quite a deal-breaker for me. It has proven to work when I'm using a windows machine
I'm running a Manjaro.
Can you provide detailed instruction on how to did you manage to make the MST work?
I see the boot grub menu, and then (both) screens are completely dark ![]()

I didn't manage to install it. Switching to kubuntu since there are drivers

Neither Manjaro nor any Buntu's are Arch and I'm assuming they mean the normal standard open source radeon driver that doesn't need xorg downgrades.
Closing this old thread.
