Can't install git

This is a fresh install on virtualbox and I want to use the AUR but for some god forsaken reason anytime I tried to use git I didn't get even a simple message so I tried to reinstall it and that didn't work it showed me this message everytime:

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

So I thought I should uninstall it and reinstall it and yeah same problem but now instead of an unusable command I get nothing
I tried to use the overwrite option to install it but apparently I am a imbecile and it doesn't work

What is the output of

# pacman -Qkk 2>&1 | grep -Fv '0 altered files'

See pastebin to pipe the output directly to a pastebin if it does not fit in code tags.

I've a suspicion that this is due to an incomplete install. You have to either clean up this mess manually or try to do so via Pacman (eg. by reinstalling which may work.)

if you still have the archlinux install media, plug it into your computer and boot to the install media,

Then mount your root partition to /mnt and you home partition (if you have one) mount it to /mnt/home and mount the EFI partition (if it's a UEFI installation) to /boot/efi.
Without chrooting, type this command:

 # pacstrap /mnt git pacman archlinux-keyring 

and now reboot into your main drive.

 # umount -R /mnt
 # reboot now 

this approach might fix it.

While the attempts to help are appreciated this kind of issue happens due to a corrupted or incorrectly done install some time ago, randomly trying to use -S instead or hoping that steamrolling over with pacstrap will somehow magically fix things aren't really going to help the issue.

The general approach to handle this are described in the link Scimmia posted but it would be interesting to see the output of loqs' command, as some attempt at installing git will have worked in some, albeit incorrect and corrupting, form.
