Package version question, for example: go-2:1.17.8-1

Hi all,

There is a package named go-2:1.17.8-1-x86_64.

Why is it named that way?
Why not just go-1.17.8-1-x86_64?
What is the purpose of the "2:" ?

Note I've read https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_p … sioningbut it doesnt talk about that special versioning scheme.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan
