I have pipewire, pipewire-alsa and pipewire-pulse installed for audio, as well as voice noise suppression configured.
I usually have the volume on the mic itself (not the noise supression source) set to 20% thru pavucontrol, as anything higher is too loud and causes a lot of noise, even with noise suppression. However, whenever the computer reboots, the mic volume seems to get reset to a much higher volume, causing the previously stated issues when I start using the mic.
What's even weirder is that this "reset" is not reflected by the sliders on both pavucontrol and alsamixer, with both of them having the same values as before the reboot (20% on pavucontrol, 55%/18 dB gain on alsamixer). However, any use of the mic (or just looking at the preview bars on pavucontrol) will immediately suggest that the mic volume is significantly higher than the sliders show.
My current workaround is to slide the mic volume to 0% and then back to 20%, which does fix this issue temporarily until the next reboot. I'm just wondering if there's a more permanent fix to this issue.
