libpanelapplet-4.0 not found on Arch + GNOME as DE
I am trying to install the sensors applet on GNOME using the source code available here. However, the installation asks for "libpanelapplet-4.0" as a dependency. This is the best I could find on the forum.
The package "libpanelapplet-4.0" is not there in the Arch package repositories nor in AUR. In the forum link I attached, there was a mention of gnome-panel, I installed that too, still no results.
This is the error message after running
./configure configure: error: Package requirements (libpanelapplet-4.0 >= 3.0.0) were not met:
Package 'libpanelapplet-4.0', required by 'virtual:world', not found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GNOME_CFLAGS
and GNOME_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.Any fixes?

The application that you're trying to install hasn't been updated in nearly 6 years. There's probably zero chance of getting it to work with the current version of Gnome.

There is a MR[1] to switch sensors-applet from libpanel-applet to the libgnome-panel library, but it was submitted 2 years ago and not acted on.
You may want to look for an alternative.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
