Saving xorg.conf with nvidia-settings (GUI) does not work

Hello,

I set my displays (1 horizontal screen, one vertical) thanks to nvidia-settings (that I run with sudo) and save the X configuration file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf). But when rebooting/logging out of session, all modifications are lost and I go back to the display configuration I had before.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Re: Saving xorg.conf with nvidia-settings (GUI) does not work

Don't do that to begin with - nvidia-settings /-xconfig creates a static server layout full of cruft and nonsense.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Multih … _xorg.conf

Edit: also there've a very good chance that you're actually creating the xorg.conf, but your desktop session simply steamrolls its internal screen config over that during the session setup.
So if you're using KDE or gnome (and maybe some other DEs) you'd have to configure the output layout rather there.
