Issue at a high level: I was trying to get GNOME 42 ahead of the official release, I installed it and can no longer get to a fully-functioning GUI. I attempted to downgrade by removing the gnome-unstable repository from pacman and running `sudo pacman -Suu` but the downgrade fails with a ton of file-conflict errors (see logs below). I can't figure out a way to simultaneously downgrade and remove the now-conflicting dependencies - which is to say, I think gnome-desktop-common 1:42.0-1 and gnome-desktop 1:41.5-1 conflict, but downgrading gnome-desktop 1:42.0-1 to gnome-desktop-1:41.5-1 is not removing gnome-desktop-common 1:42.0-1, nor is it identifying that the older version of gnome-desktop conflicts with the new gnome-desktop-common package
If anyone could assist, I couldn't get anything to take from the wiki - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Downgrading_packages - and haven't had a working machine in a couple days!
The upgrade (from `/var/log/pacman.log`)

Should be able to get back by commenting out testing repos, using -Syuu and --overwrite flag if needed.

Ah interesting - I was hoping there was a way to do the Sync with downgrades and also remove non-dependent packages, but perhaps the "right" answer is to pacman -Rdd on the new "gnome-desktop-common" and then attempt the downgrade?
EDIT - okay, yes, running `sudo pacman -Rdd gnome-desktop-common` followed by `sudo pacman -Syuu` appears to have resolved the issue. Not sure if it's worthwhile to report the fact that `/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/gnome-desktop3` is provided by both the new package (gnome-desktop-common) and the old package (gnome-desktop) to make it so that pacman auto-deconflicts the packages when GNOME 42 rolls out?

I faced the same issue, emailed heftig and he told me that it's a wip and to not use it for the time being. So it's already known ![]()

It's been moved to testing, by the way! It's now usable ![]()
