Touchpad too sensitive

Hi, I have a Dell Precision M6800 that uses the AlpsPS/2  ALPS DualPoint Touchpad, and it's too sensitive. I don't mean that the cursor moves too fast, i mean when I try and pick my finger up off the touchpad, the cursor will sometimes jump a bit. This problem didn't happen on windows, and I'm not sure how to fix it. I've seen guides for Synaptics touchpads, but that doesn't work for this Alps one...

Any ideas?

OK, I did a little more digging, and using libinput to measure the touchpad pressure shows that it can't detect my thumbs or palm. Sadly, I'm not sure how to fix that...
