I have two computers (workstation and laptop, both running on Ryzens) and I have the same issue with both computers. I have Gnome 42 installed and there were some updates last week.
Since yesterday I observed issues with my computers (probably because I restarted both of them yesterday).
Some applications are not starting (LibreOffice Writer, VS Code, Chromium at least). Other applications run (terminal, Gnome Photos etc.).
I checked the journal and logs, nothing obvious. Or maybe I missed these details.
Before going into details, does someone else have such issues?
Cheers!

I am using Gnome 42 and have not seen anything untoward. Of the software you listed, I have run Chromium and Gnome-terminal without issue. Not in front of my system so I cannot try LibreOffice for you.

Thanks for the info! I am running my systems since 2 years. I am pretty sure it is an upgrade issue (to Gnome 42). Checked the logs again, nothing obvious.
I will reinstall the system. If it is running then it was a software issue.

And I just opened LibreOffice Write and it too works just fine.

Try to run them from an interactive shell - there's likely *some* error output.

Thanks seth, no luck I reinstalled the system on one computer and everything works fine now. First time I kept my other partitions including boot and just formatted the / disk. Got the system up and running again after just 20 minutes (installation itself was probably 10 minutes).
Thanks for the help!
