sudo rejects correct password

Had this recurrent problem for a while. Sudo rejects password that is correct. Found some posts that reinstalling pam/pambase and restarting systemd-homed fixes this but it is not working (it may have worked once or twice a while ago but not now). I have just discovered it started working as expected today after a little time passed (before would just reboot). Is there a fix?

Re: sudo rejects correct password

You're most likely running into https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Securi … n_attempts if you don't fail the PW yourself, then maybe some errant script running or so.

Re: sudo rejects correct password

Thanks. It looks like there may have been a faillock file rw operation right around the time sudo started rejecting the right password.
